STate of the Leagues:

DOES OHTANI TRY TO CONTINUE HIS FANTASTIC HITTING SEASON?

The other night the MLB community had a huge blow in losing one of it's biggest stars to an UCL injury. Pitcher/DH Shohei Ohtani has just ended his 2023 pitching campaign. This is the second Tommy John that he will be going through in back to back years. Usually that's the end of the season for a player but not this case. This guy is a .300 hitter with 40 plus home-runs and he wants to continue to inflate those stats. Ohtani seems like he's going to continue to make his plate appearances but for what? Don't get me wrong it'd be cool to see him hit 50 homes-runs but at the end of the day is it worth it? He could get the surgery now and get the ball rolling on his recovery time. I'd doubt he would be able to pitch in the beginning of the season but at least he wouldn't miss the whole season. His contract is up come the end of the year so that makes that even more of a spicy situation. From what's being reported by insiders they believe he will still will get his $500 million contract but what if he further aggravates the injury? To me it wouldn't make sense to play and chance anything but it seems the competitor inside Ohtani won't let him quit on the season. I mean it looks like his teammate Trout has. After being off the IR for a day he goes right back on the 10-day IL with the same wrist injury that kept him off the field for a little of 7 weeks before that. All in all the Angel's season is further cemented as a missed opportunity for they're two All-star players to make the play-offs and do some damage. Now the real question is where will Ohtani end up? Will the market be reduced now that he wont pitch next season? Could that be an opportunity for the Angels to keep the best player in the league?
