STate of the Leagues:

SEAN O'MALLEY IS THE NEXT MCGREGOR

Updated: Aug 24, 2023

The new Bantam weight champion Sean O'Malley just knocked out Aljimain Sterling in Saturday night's round 2 TKO. As predicted Sean's elite striking was too much for Aljimain who is no slouch himself but is more proclaimed for his wrestling ability. O'Malley's takedown defense kept the fight off the ground which is where he took advantage of Sterling with a McGregor vs José Aldo like combo to take him off his feet. O'Malley proceeded to hammer fist and beat up Sterling till the referee ended the fight. Sterling had just gotten on all fours about to collect himself when the stoppage was called but by the way O'Malley was throwing haymakers the call to end the fight might have been for the best. The stoppage was a touch early but all in all it was pure domination from O'Malley. The newly crowned champ's skill set has always looked very similar to Conner McGregor to me but last night's fight completed the comparison. O'Malley is a very exciting fighter that I'm looking forward to see if he can surpass McGregor's achievements. This could be a start of a dominating title run for O'Malley and from the looks of it his skills are only getting better.
